2 Day Tour To Luxor From Hurghada
Luxor Tour Description
Explore the Timeless Wonders of Ancient Egypt: A Luxor Tour of a Lifetime
A journey through Luxor, often referred to as the "world's greatest open-air museum," is a step back in time to the heart of ancient Egyptian civilization. Located on the banks of the Nile River in southern Egypt, Luxor is home to some of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites in the world. From towering temples and vast tombs to intricate hieroglyphic carvings and monumental statues, this tour will immerse you in the rich history and mythology of one of the most powerful civilizations in human history.
Day 1: Arrival in Luxor - The Gateway to Ancient Egypt
Your Luxor adventure begins as you arrive in this historic city, where the Nile’s banks were once graced by the mighty pharaohs. After settling into your accommodation, take some time to relax and get acclimated. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the chance to explore Luxor’s modern-day sights or visit the local markets for a first taste of Egyptian life.
: West Bank - Tombs, Temples, and the Valley of the Kings
The West Bank of Luxor is an ancient necropolis, and it's here that the most significant burial sites of Egypt’s pharaohs and nobles are found. Your day will begin with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of Egypt's New Kingdom pharaohs are carved deep into the mountainside. Among these, the tomb of Tutankhamun—discovered by Howard Carter in 1922—is one of the most famous, though many others, such as those of Ramses II and Seti I, are equally impressive with their magnificent wall paintings.
Next, you'll visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, dedicated to one of Egypt's most powerful female pharaohs. This grand structure, built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, is a testament to her reign and architectural innovation.
A trip to the Colossi of Memnon, two towering statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, provides an imposing end to the morning. These statues once guarded the entrance to a grand temple that no longer exists, but their silent presence continues to captivate visitors.

Day 2: East Bank - Temples, Culture, and the Heart of Thebes
Your exploration of Luxor continues on the East Bank, the location of the ancient city of Thebes, once the capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom. Begin with a visit to the awe-inspiring Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex in Egypt. The temple, dedicated to the god Amun, is an architectural marvel. The Great Hypostyle Hall, with its 134 massive columns, is particularly striking, and you’ll be able to wander through the colonnades, chambers, and courtyards, all while learning about the centuries of history that shaped the site.
Just a short distance from Karnak is the Luxor Temple, another monumental site that has been continuously in use for thousands of years. Originally dedicated to the god Amun, Luxor Temple is particularly famous for its grand entrance lined with obelisks and statues of Ramses II. The temple is illuminated beautifully at night, making it one of the most magical places to visit after dark.
: Hot Air Balloon Ride OPTIONAL
Start your day with a hot air balloon ride at dawn over Luxor, one of the most breathtaking experiences of the entire tour. As the sun rises over the Nile, you’ll glide over the temples and tombs of the West Bank, getting a bird’s-eye view of these ancient wonders. The view from above provides a unique perspective of Luxor, the surrounding desert, and the fertile Nile Valley.
